Interceptive Ortho
Orthodontic has changed. So have many of the restriction and barriers. There are many ways to achieve the same goals. One big change is that children no longer have the monopoly on braces. Those children that still have their baby teeth aren’t excludes any more. Problems such as habits that cause the need for braces can be addressed earlier so the need for braces can be eliminated altogether.
Interceptive Ortho -addresses habits ie thumb sucking.
Can correct many malformations ie cross bite, open bite, deep bite with fixed appliances. Can be done in primary dentition, mixed dentition, permanent dentition.
Phase one / phase 2 orthodontic
Phase 1-Treatment done in mixed dentition. Correcting the problem at hand ie mild crowding
Phase 2- treatment done in permanent dentition addresses maloccl
